思考社会过程如何随时间而展现，政治生活往往因为公共物品的特性以及制度高密和政治权威的频繁使用等因素使得其比经济活动拥有更加明显的路径依赖倾向，不单单次序和时机很重要，很多制度效果要经过长时间的时间过程才能显现。这些因素也使得制度设计往往存在诸多限制，制度设计者的初衷最终无法和长时间后的实际制度样式相符合，在此也就对角色中心的功能主义理论进行了批判。作者同样对于制度变迁是悲观的，由于协调问题、否决点和资产专属性及正反馈的影响，制度往往在大多数情况下是不具有弹性的，在制度已经长时间到位后，大部分变化往往都是累进的。

这本再次唤起我对Lubbert深深仰慕之情的著作啊，time真是个神奇的dimension，我想我会继续研究下去。之前写过一篇paper，对这个问题做过初步（浅显）的讨论，接下来会在ICASS会议上发表，继续修改润色中~（最近移动硬盘坏了，没时间长春悲秋，好好加油吧少女！）
