冯内果这么一本经典有趣的小说居然没有中译？旧人类在地球上灭绝，新人类在加拉帕戈斯群岛上进化（退化）。这本有很多与《五号屠场》的共性。冯这次故意剧透，在快被他写死的人名前打星号，和《五号屠场》里最常出现的死亡标记“so it goes”如出一辙；无头鬼魂第一人称“我”的科幻小说家父亲Kilgore Trout再次串起冯氏构建的世界观；加拉帕戈斯群岛是达尔文进化论产生的根基，而冯在《屠场》里又是怎么说的呢：Tralfamadore星人最喜欢的地球人是Charles Darwin -- who taught those who die are meant to die, corpses are improvements. 总之这个时期读冯内果真是太丧了。
