Junichiro Tanizaki was a major writer of modern Japanese literature who wrote numerous books, including The Makioka Sisters and Naomi: A Novel.
This is an essay on aesthetics by one of the greatest Japanese novelists. The text ranges over architecture, jade, food, toilets, and combines an acute sense of the use of space in buildings, as well as perfect descriptions of lacquerware under candlelight and women in the darkness of the house of pleasure. 评分所以除了“质朴高雅”东方美学之外,民族主义的气息好重(都直接讨论肤色问题了)。不只是建筑布局,小到纸墨笔砚、餐具、礼器,大到艺妓、能剧都以所谓“阴翳浑浊”的外表为美。一切有金属色泽和亮光的都成了“西方”和“现代”了。这不就是更高一个层面的我与非我的观念?
评分从图书馆随便拿了本薄的书,拿到这本单纯是因为书名看上去很中二,都是猿粪。内容其实还蛮有意思的,作者提供了一种东西方美学对比的新角度(一种主观看法,不代表日本人普遍观念),文中将东方的美学比喻为the beauty of the shadow,以对比西方的the beauty of the pure bright。以这个角度从生活的方方面面具体展开对比,从厕所到食物(好像有哪里不对好像也没错),从能剧到旅馆。 总而言之对于我个人还是个蛮有意思的新鲜观点
