Reyner Banham examined the built environment of Los Angeles in a way no architectural historian before him had done, looking with fresh eyes at its manifestations of popular taste and industrial ingenuity, as well as its more traditional modes of residential and commercial building. 评分很不好意思的標記成“讀過”，因為我隻是讀瞭00版的前言，這本是09再版新加瞭一篇前言（但是那篇前言沒啥用）。和這本書相處瞭很多天纔發現是Reyner Banham寫的，因為我和另一本non-plan也想齣瞭很多天，RB也是參與Barker那個搞笑吐槽人之一。發現這點之後翻瞭書就不難理解這本書的視角有多挑戰性瞭。簡而言之，作者以“生態”的語境來檢視洛杉磯這座城市，分析瞭其整體性和閤理性，工具理性不是壞的它不是決定一切的，事實上規劃永遠不能決定一切的，而後來的critiques自以為聰明的其實也從沒能成功過
