Shepard最簡短的劇。兄弟兩人一個劇作傢，一個小偷，突然身份就翻轉瞭。對於Lee的劇本，一開始Austin鼓勵Lee寫Lee不敢寫，後來Lee想寫Austin不屑於寫，後來Austin不寫Lee自己寫，後來Austin不寫Lee也不寫，再後來Austin寫Lee不寫。一言不閤就偷toaster，就砸typewriter，就叫妓女，就摔電話，就相約去desert。風格是荒誕的，筆觸是冷峻的，戲劇性讓你頭皮發麻，black humor讓你哭笑不得。

字字珠璣，前後呼應妙得令人發指，讀完又火速從頭看瞭一遍。非常蒼涼無助，又有一絲惡童式的任性和溫情，夢幻又真實。老去的牙齒脫落滿口是血的西部沙漠，麵貌平庸卻陌生無比的小小城鎮，在德州的黑夜裏茫然追逐的兩個牛仔，被需要被希望作為根但並不無限應允的母親，悲哀的既是憧憬也是負擔的父親，殊途同歸。內心空蕩蕩又需要證實自身存在的兩兄弟，彆扭地存在著共同點和對彼此的關心，他們羨慕又恐懼著對方錶麵的特質和生活，兩人幾經角力和融閤，像是西部片裏那樣粗狂又巧妙地鬥智鬥勇，輪番占據優勢，但又無法享受勝利。大概這世上已經沒有甜水鎮瞭，又到處都是甜水鎮的化身，無處尋覓的同時也無處可逃，沙漠或者阿拉斯加都不行。true west隻在電影裏，和執拗的兄弟對峙時的剪影中。那是所有劇本都無法框住和染指的，漂泊無依的夢境。

Go west ⇔Go wild 終場沒有想到，結局更沒想到。還想說Lee要是真死瞭那也痛快，會更發人深省，但轉念一想，這樣的結局，兄弟倆人（或許還有媽）都將陷入絕望的深淵，那也很有力度。
