Qian Jiaoru (錢佼汝)　former professor of English at Nanjing University, graduated from the Department of Foreign Languages and Literature of Nanjing University in 1964 majoring in English, studied at the University of Sydney from 1979 to 1981 where he received his MA degree in English, was invited by Cornell University in 1986 as senior visiting scholar and joined UNESCO in 1993 as senior reviser in the Translation Division at its headquarters in Paris where he worked till his retirement in 2003. His publications include essays in Chinese and English on stylistics, contemporary literary criticism and a translation of Fredric Jameson's The Prison-House of Language.
