這種書已經不能用好壞去做評述瞭，因為它已經成為西方建築史和建築教程裏的裏程碑式的經典。這是英語世界裏為數不多的迪朗譯本之一。有圖，有文，外加Picon的一個詳實的前言。這是給建築教育者和建築史的研究者的必讀書。真是很難去概括迪朗的位置以及他跟布紮和理工的關係。。。。。反倒是覺得他所言的堅實、衛生、適用，很像50年代中國建築師討論的三原則。而迪朗已經不再用文化或是神學討論建築瞭，對稱，對他來說，就是來自建造的效率和性價比。

Durand fostered a new perspective on architecture - directed to functional needs rather than aesthetic concerns - that revolutionized architectural training across Europe. The second section from 1821 reproduces his drawings which accompanied the lectures.
