As a part of the Royal Tropical Institute, the Tropenmuseum in Amsterdam presents, researches and advances knowledge of the interactions between cultures, working at the international cultural crossroads. This "Bulletin" discusses the museum's collections, the results of recent policies of collecting, and the framework for future policies. In terms of future research and acquisition, the museum has chosen themes such as popular culture, popular art, modern art and immaterial heritage. In addition, the focus will be on the discussion around human remains, the ethics of collecting and redistributing collections, the disclosure of the photographic collections, maintenance, digital accessibility of collections, and the use of websites. The choice for a new thematic emphasis running counter to existing specialisations will not so much result in abolishing regions and themes as it will bring more precision and differentiation of the direction of research with regard to collection documentation, exhibition research, international collaboration and acquisitions policy.
