从田野调查视角去解释语言和文化的关系，介绍风俗的时候很有意思，谁能想到小说的题目竟然是互道晚安的方式呢，介绍语音系统的时候就有些考验专业知识而显得难啃了。皮拉罕语是一门神奇的语言。

语言学和人类学交织，乔姆斯基大概是真不懂什么是简单生活说简单句子就好了，同时觉得与其呼吁文化的作用，不如说是更少“文化”束缚的结果。但因为政治不正确不敢说人“文化少”吗？印象深的点：no baby talk，对待断奶后的孩子像成人态度；multiple language channels including singing, humming, whistling, yelling等等，语法简单不妨碍语言形式的多样性；一些与生活环境相关的鲜活表达；无创世神话；只谈自己亲历的事情；性禁忌很少，婚姻制度也很宽松；但pirahã人虽然在小群体里亲密快乐同时又极端保守排外。作者客观呈现同时也是自己跌宕的宗教和科研经历。因为这篇博文发现的书 http://neurolingua.blogspot.com/2015/10/blog-post_20.html?m=1&from=singlemessage&isappinstalled=0

丹尼尔·埃弗里特（Daniel L. Everett）

曾任伊利诺伊州立大学语言、文学与文化系主任，匹兹堡大学语言学系主任，现任本特利大学艺术与科学学院的院长。

丹尼尔•埃弗里特能够流利地使用皮拉罕语，因长期从事研究皮拉罕语而闻名于世。他在皮拉罕语系统上的发现，既挑战了语言学界权威乔姆斯基的理论，更进一步说明了语言与文化的相互关系。

在语言学理论和对濒临消失的亚马孙流域的土著语言的研究方面，埃弗里特已发表了90多篇论文，出版了6本书籍。
