我推荐每个女性去读读这本书，无论姑娘是不是女权主义者，无论姑娘你认为你应该过上什么样的生活。在我十八岁的那年Betty Friedan告诉作为女性更应该去寻找自己生存的价值与意义，做一个现代女性并不是对女性天赋角色的抵抗，而是去看清生活中的一些隐性的歧视和不公，慢慢走向一种完全独立的生活，并在最好的年纪里去寻找自己愿意奉献一生的职业，兴趣和爱好。作者向我们描述了60年前美国女性对自我的探求和重拾自尊，自立，自强的道路，她们也因为这本书揭开了feminine mystique虚伪的面纱，勇敢的拒绝写下“occupation-housewife”，并骄傲的在职业一栏中写下了doctor，political activist，lawyer，teacher and etc etc.

曾经有个女人就读了一本此书中译版就自以为神圣的母知，将所谓的女权主义自我骄傲又狭隘地重新诠释了一遍；我自己也没好到哪里去。故幻灭。从此对feminism没有热切的信仰。仅工具而已。

Betty Draper和Mrs Dallowy的psychoanalyst没能解答的问题，Friedan解答了。本书写就的时间很早，Friedan也仅将她的叙事落脚在美国女性；但是今天读来仍是意义非凡，所反映的困境也远非仅仅是那个时代的美国女性独有。书中不少观点即使用于评价现在的中国社会也是妥帖的。
