"The Frog and the Locked Door" is about what life is like after marriage. It is basically a series of "fairy tales" or "short parables" about life after marriage that helps us to better understand the "ups and downs" of life once we make the hitch. In "The Frog and the Locked Door," there are 20 different stories to delight the adult reader. Many of them can be read to children of all ages, since they deal with affairs of everyday life and how to build moral character and courage. This book is one of few that John Anthony Walker has written that are written without foul language or themes. Some of his other books are greatly different in that they border on the extreme of society and relate to "fringe" issues in mankind. This book is not one of those books. "The Frog and the Locked Door" is immediately traditional, conservative and pleasurable to read for everyone. Not an experience one might have with some of his other works, which are challenging and, creatively speaking, without bounds. His other works also do not have the beautiful innocence that is found in this book and in "Beartown," another of his "innocent" works. "The Frog and the Locked Door" can best be described as tales to educate and amuse those of us who have had experiences in relationships, good or bad, to help us better know ourselves and those that we love and cherish.
