由淺及深。前兩講關於facts, society, and individual的不少論點放今天算是基本共識，第三講把history&science&morality的關係對比總結得各種犀利，第四講causation和第五講progress幫助理清瞭不少（作為determinist的）我思考甚久的問題，最後第六講直接看著看著就懵逼跪瞭。。希望明年這會兒可以站著看完！PS.因為被分到瞭Wolfson所以看到書中時不時拿Berlin舉反例的感覺真是微妙2333333

Professor Carr shows that the 'facts' of history are simply those which historians have selected for scrutiny. Millions have crossed the Rubicon, but the historians tell us that only Caesar's crossing was significant. All historical facts come to us as a result of interpretative choices by historians influenced by the standards of their age. Yet if absolute objectivity is impossible, the role of the historian need in no way suffer; nor does history lose its fascination. This edition includes new material which presents the major conclusions of Professor Carr's notes for the second edition and a new preface by the author, in which he calls for 'a saner and more balanced outlook on the future'.
