此書難找，直到半個多月前纔偶爾找到瞭Kindle版。篇幅大概200多頁，英文易懂程度中等。書中開頭就說：Shin齣生於14號勞改營，並且是這個勞改營有史以來第1個也是唯一一個成功齣逃的人。關於朝鮮的勞改營，在為數不多的幾本書中有所描述，也有極少數的人從中齣逃。這麼一個齣生長大在勞改營的角色，卻是第一次看到，所以其親身經曆相對其他角度的描寫肯定更讓人觸動。讓人感觸最深的是：在集中營高壓政策下，人與人之間已完全沒瞭基本的感情、愛與信任，每個人為瞭生存，都可能成為告密者以獲得自保；Shin就是這樣一個人，當得知母親與哥哥計劃逃走的時候，第一時間去告發瞭他們，讓人更悲愴的是：他與父親目睹母親與哥哥被槍斃的時候，心裏依然對他們憤恨，因為自己被他們拖纍。想必與納粹集中營不同的是：朝鮮集中營更能摧毀靈魂。
