A haunting tale of human resilience in the face of unrelieved horror, Camus' novel about a bubonic plague ravaging the people of a North African coastal town is a classic of twentieth-century literature.
Penguin Modern Classics, translator: Robin Buss. "The evil in the world comes almost always from ignorance, and goodwill can cause as much damage as ill-will if not enlightened."
评分讀完發現這本書大概在說盡管我們都知道hepth的phd形勢越來越不樂觀(the plague), 即使發瞭prl的同學都處處被拒(anti plague effort is evidently futile and almost makes no difference ), 我們還是要努力刷gpa做research發paper(the rebellion is still noble and meaningful)

评分The theme of The Plague is the futility of man's act. Each character reacted in different ways towards the calamity, however their fate rests solely on the randomness of the plague, and even the plague itself came as unexpectedly as it went away. Rieux reminds me of Meursault in The Outsider.
