The work of Jean-Jacques Rousseau is presented in two volumes, together forming a comprehensive anthology of Rousseau's political writings in English. This second volume contains the earlier writings such as the First and Second Discourses, the publication of which signalled the power and challenge of Rousseau's thinking. 评分早期文献狂气十足，喜欢喷各种大佬，尤其喜欢喷伏尔泰，后来又喷达朗贝尔和狄德罗。得罪了一帮学圈大佬。相比之下晚年书信经常不是说自己到处跑路就是说前列腺炎快死了，心情变化令人啧啧称奇。
评分2018年上半年西方思想史读书会精读了The First Discourse，没想到这本小册子跟我最近思考的问题连起来了，真是神奇，以前都没有意识到这种相关性。The Second Discourse是十多年前读的，近几年需要重读一遍
