masterful reading of architectural structure (though a bit biased towards that of plans and facades, and short on the experiential side of things), and a lucid companion piece on architectural proportion to Panofsky's 1921 paper. 現在覺得瓦爾堡學派的British émigré所處的文化環境的確影響瞭他們研究的趨嚮，Wittkower最後一小節談英國美學對古典比例的叛離可算一例很鮮明的例子。

寫得好好！書其實很薄但我讀得很慢，人文主義時期的語境是慢慢鋪陳的，當時的和諧不僅僅是音樂和建築的和諧，還有宗教，哲學，教育，審美之間...一切都是和諧的，非常非常優美的一個時期。很意外最後一節竟也講到後來完美比例如何被遺棄，但寥寥數語也勾勒齣人自我發現的過程，耳朵與眼睛感受的和諧真的相通嗎？人眼真的可以感知如此細微的比例變化嗎？這些思考可都太迷人瞭，是建築師們在自我語境裏的睏惑與思考。
