Jay Rubin is a professor of Japanese literature at Harvartn University.He is the author of Haruki Murakami and the Music of Words and he has also translated Murakami's Norwegian Wood and The Wind-up Bird Cbronicle.

虽然写的故事不算幸福，但是整体给人感觉却很温暖。其实还是很上进的。
评分《神的孩子都跳舞》。从小说奇异的描述中我们看到灾难对日本人的影响：因为灾难一切都变得不可预测，所以享乐主义也无可厚非。灾难创造一个突破口，从前深藏在心底不敢表述的，在目睹了生命的脆弱之后，也倒坦然面对、渲泄、转折了。而灾难有时又是有积极意义的，使在金钱欲望驱使下变得分裂自私的社会人重新聚集起来、发现彼此的存在，共同努力。虽然这样的聚集是短暂的，而人的记忆也那么脆弱与模糊。
评分真的是就怕货比货，同时在读科塔萨尔，都是爵士爱好者，差距咋就这么大呢，当然这本即使比村上自己的《盲女睡柳》那个集子也是差了一大截 太多刻意经营的成分 不过有几篇的中心意象还是不错的，比如摇铃做爱(躲熊)，海边燃起的篝火，月下起舞，梦见可以祛除心魔的蛇，最后两篇别人说好，我反而无感
