Stoppard might be too intelligent an author to be appreciated by the general audience. However, even without a profound knowledge of Greek and Latin poetry, or the history Oxford scholarship, or late Victorian societal values, one can still understand Oscar Wilde's wistful words "we would never love anyonre if we see through our invention."
