看完了小说在油管上瞄了一眼Martin scorsese 的电影版，发现评论里铺天盖地的罗曼蒂克主义：什么傲慢与偏见后史诗般地爱情，看了五遍还不够之类的。难道这本书不是讲一群傲慢又爱装十三的纽约上层人士不作不会死的故事吗？archer newland的伪女权，may welland典型一个做作傻白甜。还特别嫌贫爱富，女主就不批了毕竟人家还是个家暴受害者。如果不能make fun of New York people 感觉这白看了。

这书真心写的晦涩么……除了开头我觉得都还好吧……不过什么小说不是开头奇奇怪怪的。结尾虽然有些啰嗦。爱情有时候真的是个很无奈的事，不过相爱但分开……也未必不是一种成全. Ellen一句话印象最深刻 I can't love you unless I give you up. 有时候……难道不是么？

伊迪丝·华顿（Edith Wharton, 1862-1937）是纽约一个名门望族琼斯家的女儿。和她的朋友亨利·詹姆斯一样，她在家中接受了良好的教育，后来多次出国旅行。1885年她和一个比她大十三岁的有钱的波士顿人爱德华·华顿结了婚。此人性格虽好，但他们却很少共同之处，几年以后，爱德华患了精神病，最终导致了他们的离婚，从此以后，伊迪丝长住巴黎，直到1937年去世。

伊迪丝·华顿起初是为了排遣上流社会家庭生活的苦闷而开始写作的。她从1880年开始发表小说，1889年第一部短篇小说集问世，获得了意外的成功。1905年长篇小说《快乐之家》出版，使她成了20世纪前二十年最受欢迎的美国作家。1920年出版的《纯真年代》为她获得了普利策奖。她一共写了十九部中长篇小说，出版过十一本短篇小说集，还有大量的非小说作品。

这篇文章不该叫读后感，应该算是在书本旁边的个人随心所欲的注释更贴切一些。整部小说人物的对话占得并不多，更多的是环境的描绘、旁白和内心表述，缓慢甚至显得有些沉闷，在一种冷淡心态中读这部小说我觉得是极为合适的，这样才能在作者清淡的笔触中品出些真味。作者在上流...
