(1956) R3 w/ Robert Glenister. 原本要3小時45分鍾，廣播劇刪瞭一部分也沒有肢體語言占時間，饒是如此也要3小時！對比譯本讀，閱讀時間省瞭一半耶

尤金·奧尼爾 Eugene O’Neill (1888-1953)，美國劇作傢，生於紐約一個演員傢庭，幼年隨父親的劇團走南闖北，漂泊無定。1912年患肺結核住院期間，研讀瞭自古希臘以來的戲劇經典作品，並開始戲劇創作。一生創作獨幕劇21部，多幕劇28部。四次獲普利策奬，並獲得1936年諾貝爾文學奬。奧尼爾的戲劇師承斯特林堡和易蔔生的藝術風格，被譽為是“一位土生土長的悲劇拓荒者，不僅可以跟易蔔生、斯特林堡和蕭伯納相媲美，而且可以跟埃斯庫羅斯、歐裏庇得斯和莎士比亞相媲美”。他最關注的主題，是外在壓力下人性的扭麯和人格分裂的過程。他的大量作品既烙下瞭現代各種心理分析學(尤其是弗洛伊德主義)的印記，又沉重地滲透著古希臘的悲劇意識。

譯者喬誌高 George Kao (1912-2008），原名高剋毅，祖籍江蘇。1912年生於美國密歇根州。畢業於燕京大學，並獲得美國密蘇裏大學新聞學院碩士、哥倫比亞大學國際關係碩士。1973年與宋淇共同創辦英文《譯叢》(Renditions) 雜誌，嚮全世界介紹中文文學。

First published by Yale University Press in 1956, it won the Pulitzer Prize in 1957 and has since sold more than one million copies. This edition, which includes a new foreword by Harold Bloom, coincides with a new production of the play starring Brian Dennehy, which opens in Chicago in January 2002 and in New York in April.
