这本小书在科学史上影响深远，体现了惊人洞察力。最启发我的，是他观察和思考问题的方式。前半本从物理学角度探讨生命，一条主要线索就把生命、物质、量子现象彼此的联系理得清晰明白。后半本主要探讨物质和意识，罕见一个大科学家能有如此深挚的哲学关怀，对科学视角的反思深入脊髓。“生命以负熵为生”对我而言意味极深——生命之所以在熵增的宇宙出现，本就源于对美的向往。所以我们的爱，我们的passion，我们对美的向往并非源于性本能，而因为美是一切的最终真相本身。:)

埃尔温·薛定谔（1887-1961），奥地利物理学家。20世纪的前30年中物理学经历了一次大革命，解决了微观运动的基本规律问题。薛定谔生活在这个时代，1926年他提出了波动力学，是量子力学的标准形式之一。薛定谔因此而获得诺贝尔奖。后来他的兴趣转向生命科学，1943年写的《生命是什么》，为分子生物学的诞生作了概念上的准备。
