生病之中把此书看完了。说实话，并不很喜欢其中的风格，除了最后一篇，其余三篇开始的情节都太为拖沓，大道理讲得有些多显得沉冗；另外小说大体上呈现一种悲观的基调，有时候感觉矫情,优柔寡断和有些沉沦于自我幻想，就是通常我们说的"想的太多"。。因为本书事实上是基于作者的经历在写作，应该也影射了作者的性格。也或许这样的细腻悲情造就了文豪。

Book Description

Count Leo Tolstoy (1828-1910) is best known for War and Peace and Anna Karenina , commonly regarded as amongst the greatest novels ever written. He also, however, wrote many mastery short stories, and this volume contains four of the longest and best in distinguished translations that have stood the test of time.

In the early story 'Family Happiness', Tolstoy explores the subject of courtship and marriage from the point of view of a young wife; in 'The Kreutzer Sonata' he gives us a terrifying study of marital breakdown; in 'The Devil', he depicts the powerful pressures of sexual temptation; and in perhaps the finest of all, 'The Death of Ivan Ilyich', he portrays the long agony of a man gradually coming to terms with his own mortality.

This volume also includes an Introduction and Notes written specially for this Wordworth edition by Dr. Tim Cook, formerly lecturer in literature at the Universities of Kingston and Ulster. Previous work contributed by Dr. Cook fir Wordworth includes an introduction and notes to Charles Dickens' Nicholas Nickleby.
