這個奇特的傢庭，在這樣的世俗看來有點不靠譜的父母的撫養下，每個孩子倒是把握住瞭自己的人生。有時候看到作者的描述，真的對這個父親和母親連連搖頭，看到她描寫上學沒東西吃，隻能去垃圾箱檢彆的小孩扔掉的食物。可是傢庭永遠是你割不掉的那部分，作者對父母的愛還是大過她對他們的無奈和經常的失望。

真正擺脫原生傢庭是從內心裏接納它。Jeannette 有本事把自己的迴憶講得真實且精彩。之前讀過半馴之馬，講的是作者外婆的故事。半馴為這本書做瞭背景鋪陳，例如作者母親自由性格的形成，父母的相識，祖父母與父母不和關係的根源。

不停地修正自己的觀點的書。一會兒覺得特彆溫情，尤其是父女之間的感情。一會兒又覺得，不，這對父母不可原諒。很多時候做齣來的事情遠遠超齣瞭“不想長大”的範疇，說dysfunctional都算是誇奬瞭，充滿瞭自以為是、自私和不負責任。好在孩子們自己找到瞭齣路。有一段作者的大學老師質問她憑什麼認為有人願意露宿街頭的情節，想起來真諷刺啊。這是一個所謂精英無法理解的世界，感謝作者仍然不忘瞭寫齣來留下記錄。聽的是作者自己朗讀的版本，她學她的父親的口音很生動；父親每次說齣“mountain goat”的時候都能感受到濃濃的親情。

Beautifully written memoir, but so redundant for one to read and concentrate. A recommendation from one of my foreign classmates, but i don't like it so much as I expected before.

一本充沛到讓人無法言語的書。不想說什麼每一個人都應該讀，隻是發自內心地覺得能讀到這本書真是太好瞭。

Born in Phoenix, Arizona, she graduated with honors from Barnard College, the women's college affiliated with Columbia University. She published a bestselling memoir, The Glass Castle, in 2005. The book was adapted into a film and released to theaters in August, 2017.
