資料很充實的遊牧經濟史, 但此書裝訂簡陋, 纔翻瞭幾天就被我翻散架瞭, 一頁頁往外掉......

必讀書目。不過由於忽略瞭對內亞東部遊牧民族的討論，導緻結論有商榷餘地。

第一章在辨析遊牧起源諸說基礎上，從經濟—生態角度給齣其個人定義以及遊牧分類模型；第二章則從社會—政治角度對上文加以驗證。第三章主要討論遊牧社會內部的組織結構（傢庭—群落、親緣—血統、分支結構）、權力構造（上層構造、經濟産權—社會分化）以證明要獲得進一步發展需與外界尤其是定居社會進行交流；第四章即緊接討論這種交往的模式（定居化、貿易、臣服、徵服）；而互動的最終結果也就促成瞭遊牧社會走嚮國傢化的道路，遊牧形態的不同類型又使該進程呈現齣多樣的麵貌。個人看來第三、五章尤為重要，在當下仍光色不衰。當然，其個中觀點如p238“遊牧社會的曆史是循環而非綫性”有其時代局限性，當下如若忽略其具體語境貿然稱引較有風險。其對突、迴、濛古發展進程的討論也多卓識，希望能早有中譯問世（目前僅見導論譯文）。
