At the same time, she was also its offspring: the personification of youth, rejuvenation, and technical efficiency."--"a sibling relationship" between avant-garde and storm troops.

可能文化史的路徑對於一戰史來說是很有創造性的吧，但是Eksteins這種文化史的寫法也太散瞭。那些人名啊、城市名啊嘩啦啦地齣來，但是不一會兒又嘩啦啦地跑過去瞭；有一些例子也和main argument沒什麼關係啊。。

What can studying such phenomena reveal? What are the risks involved? Preface, Chapters I (p. 9-16 only), VI and IX 似乎口氣過大，文筆確實很好。
