Dr. Kevin Latham is a Lecturer at the Department of Anthropology and Sociology at the School of Oriental and African Studies of the University of London. His research focuses on Chinese media with particular attention to journalists working in newspapers and television in Guangzhou. His earlier research on Chinese theatre (Cantonese opera in particular) dealt extensively with audiences, practices of appreciation and the production of different kinds of knowledge. He has written on Chinese practices of consumption, consumerism and popular culture.
