乔治·佩雷克(1936—1982)
法国当代先锋小说家,主要作品包括《物:60年代纪事》《W或童年记忆》《生活使用说明》等。1967年加入文学实验团体“潜在文学工场”,对作品加以形式、文学或数学上的种种限制,形成独特的叙事风格。

“你二十五岁,有二十九颗牙、三件衬衣、八只袜子、几本你不再看的书、几张你不再听的唱片。你并不想回忆别的事,无论你的家庭、你的学业、你的爱情、你的朋友、你的假期,还是你的规划。你旅行过,没有从几次旅行中带回任何东西。你就干坐着,你只想等待,仅仅等待,一直等到再也没有什么可等的了:等到夜晚来临,打了钟点,一天天逝去,而记忆也渐渐淡漠了。”
《沉睡的人》出版于1967年,是乔治·佩雷克的第三部小说。作者使用第二人称,直接与主人公对话,用诗意的语言讲述了一个大学生把自己封闭起来,逐渐沉浸在麻木和无谓之中,最终彻底遁世的经过。
