非裔美国女性文学课//slavery is terrible for men,but it is more terrible for women.大多数奴隶主受过教育甚至高等教育,但仍然认为自己有权利对他的奴隶做任何事情;他们不希望看到奴隶生活的舒服。这两点似乎在大屠杀那本书里可以找到一些答案:1.集合体(奴隶主们)去做一件如果单个人做看起来很疯狂很残酷的事情时,事情就变得符合常理了。2.他人(另一种颜色的人)的主权成了对自己主权的攻击。一个民族的权利在另一个民族就是越轨。作者一直在强调我们不能用同样的道德去judge她所处的条件下作出的违背道德的事情,然而她悲惨的命运甚至在大多数女性奴隶中仍属于幸运至极。

其实我读的是Penguin Classics版本的。以前一直觉得没有受过良好教育的人不可能写出经典作品,但是这本书真的让我觉得it never finishes what it intends to say. 从极度苦难中存活下来,作者对痛苦、人性和其他forms of oppression的理解深刻得令人战栗。黑奴写的东西不当史料读,读不出它的伟大之处。
