Men looked away from frightful happenings as soon as they could and behaved as if there was no use, once things were over with, in mentioning them or thinking about them ever again. Everybody is diseased. Like the idea and like the stories. More down-to-earth, and even better than last book I read. Really like her much, for so many thoughts alike, and she definitely can write. Just can't get enough! 或許同一個調調，但尚未厭倦。

作者講故事一般都多多少少看齣麼些情節的設計是為瞭吸引讀者，討好讀者。門羅的風格很靜，靜靜地講完一個故事，不管你喜不喜歡，也沒有任何嘗試去讓你喜歡。這本書讀不讀得進去全看讀者有沒有共鳴。可惜我能産生共鳴的可能隻有三分之一的故事。
