Preliminary Mathematics treats comprehensively the topics in a math-

ematics program that prepares students for the study of formal courses in

elementary algebra and plane geometry. The book treats the metric sys-

tem broadly and makes frequent use of metric measures in problem

settings. As the class textbook or as a supplement to the class textbook or
