大衛．哈維（David Harvey）紐約城市大學（City University of New York）研究院人類學講座教授。曾任約翰霍普金斯大學地理系教授，以及牛津大學霍福德麥金德（Halford Mackinder）講座地理學教授。他於1980年獲美國地理學家學會頒贈卓越貢獻獎；1989年獲瑞典人類學暨地理學社頒贈安德斯瑞特祖斯（Anders Retzius）獎章；1995年同時獲頒皇家地理學會的派特榮（Patron）獎章，以及法國的法崔盧德（Vautrin Lud）獎。

David Harvey is the most influential geographer of our era, possessing a reputation that extends across the social sciences and humanities. Spaces of Capital, a collection of seminal articles and new essays spanning three decades, demonstrates why his work has had-and continues to have-such a major impact. The book gathers together some of Harvey's best work on two of his central concerns: the relationship between geographical thought and political power as well as the capitalist production of space. In addition, he chips away at geography's pretenses of "scientific" neutrality and grounds spatial theory in social justice.
