李建群，现为中央美术学院美术史系教授，外国美术教研室教师，硕士研究生导师。主攻西方近现代美术史。1984-1987年中央美术学院美术史系研究生，获硕士学位；1987至今，中央美术院美术史系教师；1992-1993年，伦敦大学考陶尔美术学院访问学者，主修中世纪美术；2002年，伦敦大学大学学院美术史系高访学者，主修英国美术史，西方女性艺术研究。该书由李建群女士组织中央美院师生一流翻译团队集体完成。
