audiobook讀的超棒！原以為是一齣鬧劇，到最後發現是一場悲劇。徹徹底底的悲劇。關於曆史的定義，不可信的記憶，所留下的記錄，當事人的心態。你覺得自己很成熟，卻隻是選擇避免受傷，把這稱為生存本能，不去考慮年輕時一切的可能性。你淋花，交稅，認真過日子，年邁七十，到底錯過瞭什麼。聽開頭的時候還以為又是那種無病呻吟的書，結果卻寫得這麼好。

重讀。Barnes始終擁有近乎殘忍的簡潔與精準，但許是自我保護作祟，切割得太乾淨利落，抽離得太遠，思慮太重，走去另一個極端：字裏行間處處透著難以接近的淡漠，主人公的掙紮與睏惑似乎激不起敘事者內心一絲波瀾，情感層麵如同一片灰敗的荒原。真是奇怪的閱讀感受。

臥病在床，這本小書是不錯的消遣。錶麵上似乎在錶達個人記憶與曆史的建構性、不可靠性，但細讀之後的直覺是，巴恩斯很巧妙地規避瞭很多東西，卻暗示瞭更多。敘述技巧是一流的，在故事世界之外反身性地指涉瞭讀者與小說的關係。人生的終結是死亡，但終結感則是the impossilibility of change；小說的終結是故事最後一個字，但其終結感則是讀者體驗他者的失敗："You don't get it. You never did"。巴恩斯躲藏在平淡無奇的主人公麵具下，殘忍地撕破瞭現代人麻木的感受力和生存狀態。Adrian纔是他的化身。

Julian Patrick Barnes is a contemporary English writer of postmodernism in literature. He has been shortlisted three times for the Man Booker Prize--- Flaubert's Parrot (1984), England, England (1998), and Arthur & George (2005), and won the prize for The Sense of an Ending (2011). He has written crime fiction under the pseudonym Dan Kavanagh.

Following an education at the City of London School and Merton College, Oxford, he worked as a lexicographer for the Oxford English Dictionary. Subsequently, he worked as a literary editor and film critic. He now writes full-time. His brother, Jonathan Barnes, is a philosopher specialized in Ancient Philosophy.

He lived in London with his wife, the literary agent Pat Kavanagh, until her death on 20 October 2008.
