就像一個由村上和東野聯手寫就的關於迴憶的故事：如果說第一部分是彌漫著憂傷氣息的挪威的森林，那第二部分就是反轉不斷扣人心弦的嫌疑人X的獻身。同樣是關於迴憶，追尋逝去的時光大多數人都走不過斯萬傢那邊。但在the Sense of an Ending這裏，你會在短短一百多頁裏不斷思考自殺，懷疑婚姻，修正記憶；你會和男主角一起經曆少年心氣，走過光榮之路，最後獨自前行。‘You are on you own now, Tony!’

異常精彩的suspense，最為精彩的就是看到最後我還是沒有看懂怎麼迴事- - 而且在正文結束後留瞭足足五頁的白紙這是為瞭哪般呢又？想到這裏突然覺得真好精彩啊。因為我-作為讀者將要返迴到書中去make my own sense out of it！

Julian Barnes’s honors include the Somerset Maugham Award, the Geoffrey Faber Memorial Prize, and the E. M. Forster Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. In 2004 he was named Commandeur de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French Ministry of Culture. He lives in London.
