《恶童日记》再次印证了伟大的小说根本不靠辞藻和噱头。跟米兰昆德拉一样，Agota Kristof也逃离了故土，中年开始用法语写作；从译本也可以间接看出用非母语进行文学创作的挑战性。但语言上的相对稚嫩，如果运用得当，会有意想不到的戏剧效果：《恶童日记》第一部分是双胞胎主角的日记，它给我带来的震撼第一是战争的残酷，第二是叙述者有着与年纪不符的成熟、冷漠、甚至凶残。第二部分双胞胎被边境分隔，用第三人称讲述独自留在家乡的Lucas的曲折故事。第三部分干脆彻底把前面的叙事推翻，让读者困惑，哪个叙事者说的是真话？直到最后才道出全部真相。可这时你会发现，现实的绝望已经远远超过了谎言（或者戏中戏）的残酷。
评分第一部真是好。战争背景下的生活乱象，孩子们从小孩蜕变成了大人。第二部也好，无非爱与分离。何等亲切的阅读体验。第三部没太明白为什么这样写——可是某些情节总是回到我脑子里面，应该是影响我最深
