How is change possible? What makes something the same thing at different times? Are there things that must exist for anything else to exist at all? 评分这个英译本实在一言难尽，导言写得相当精彩，每章前的开篇也不错，但加入了太多作者的主观意见，亚氏文中实际上是看不出来的，而且翻译很多地方确实难读，不知道是不是希腊语本身的缘故，但中译本却译的很流畅，作者自己也说不打算翻地简单，但这不是借口啊！有两个地方需要注意：1，substance, essence, definition, form, species之间的关系是什么？ 重点在于form/species之间（参SEP），导言中作者认为亚氏在《形》里对“第一本体”的定义与在《范》中相互颠倒，但SEP中并不这么认为。2，SEP和导言里对待substance是否为universal的意见也相互分歧，前者涉及definition must be of universal，后者predication。
