压抑就像封面有时候觉得他有些自负了朋友和伙伴的忠告一概忽略为了想象中不切实际的胜利黑着走书中的一句评论很认同即或许最开始他是为了名利但是后来他真的是为了公益但反过来想想任何人对一件事有这么深刻的了解都很难再以肤浅如名利的原因为继知道适可而止也是很重要的

3年前想读的。教授帮忙要求punitive damage 有种神来之笔，可惜最后案子因为原告经济不足以支持，只能以和解告终。原告律师自己贴钱的巨大风险，甚至要向信用卡公司借高利贷，最后还搞到自己破产。法官读起来一开始还不偏不倚，但后来被写得像一面倒支持好朋友，处处针对原告了。关键的一点是法官用“自己的判断”，只对Grace的污染行为加以确认，直接打消了对另一家的污染行为指控(即使陪审团不同意)，而另一家在审判过程中隐瞒了不少对自己有害的证据，之后上诉法院也只是把案子发回同一个法官审判，这就进入了一种死循环之中。

之前上课读完the Buffalo disaster老师就推荐了这本，说不是每一个案子都伸张正义了，这个就输的很惨，破产的主角还来我们学校演讲过。。。。终于抽空读了写的真好。。。

Jonathan Harr lives and works in Northampton, Massachusetts, where he has taught nonfiction writing at Smith College. He is a former staff writer at New England Monthly and has written for The New Yorker and The New York Times Magazine.

Harr spent nine years researching and writing A Civil Action, which was published in 1995, subsequently nominated for a National Book Award, and awarded the National Book Critics Circle Award.

在看虚构写作里面提到了这部，这个奇怪的译名让我好找。看到三分之一关于法律知识和实物有点了解，比如律师是如何开展工作的，如何攻击对手的，的确是个吸血，变相敲诈的行当哈哈哈哈，不过也算利益再分配的一种方式吧，特别是伤人赔偿这一环，可能特别有行侠仗义感写作方面...
