评分对比11世纪的书能看出来人们思想的变化，书里有令人意外的女权观念（尽管是旧式）。对比几十年前的骑士小说，似乎更要求一个完美的角色在各方面都有造诣，尽管中庸，却毫无趣味。且不说和马基雅维利比是多么冗长，单就其欠缺逻辑（倒是足够谦卑地先说明自己也不懂）的论述已经让人难以看完。
