耳熟能詳的曆史大背景，加上個人命運的韆轉百迴。盡管聽瞭n多種當年故事，每次聽都有吸引力，比如鄉村赤腳醫生的變遷。#還有木有友鄰能看到我的書評呀

單偉建的這本書真實還原瞭知青在內濛古戈壁上山下鄉的點點滴滴，和十年之內從普通知青變成沃頓商學院教授夢幻般的經曆。作者站在寫給外國人看的角度來寫這本書，戈壁知青的經曆占瞭80%的篇幅，很多細節在熟悉該曆史背景的讀者看來難免有點冗長，但在外國人看來則真實得有點匪夷所思。乾練的敘事手法加上作者特有的黑色幽默讓這本書增色不少

終於讀完。沒想到是這麼認真的一本迴憶錄，從大躍進寫起，用個人經曆寫中國的曆史進程。很多細節的描寫和故事看起來匪夷所思，但給我這樣以前隻能從曆史書上看到一些隻言片語的人很多有意思的視角。單偉健無疑是努力的，在戈壁也要堅持讀書聽英文廣播，彆人勞動紛紛偷懶他還堅持，為瞭被推選上大學主動去和彆人搞好關係，去瞭美國還要無比努力拿A。能在睏境中保持對自己的高要求，對人生敢於選擇未知和跳齣舒適圈，大佬之所以為大佬，不是沒有道理。
