小说更像是侦探小说，前松后紧，最后达到高潮。美剧更像具有娱乐性，而且搬演模式类似于莎剧《麦克白》，有些邪恶性格人物的审美的味道。作者在后记里说这是25年前的旧作，借美剧的契机重新修改的版本，说自己没有大改，只是润色。不过这一改，好像突然让故事变成暗黑系了。
