The Scarlet Letter could be the representative of Hawthorne's fiction. I cant say it is a Gothic fiction or sth. however, it is plain to read, easy to trace down and wipe out the feeling of commit a crime or sin. Does adultery matters to a widow? or a woman...  

this term our extra reading includes this book. my teacher says it is very wonderful book, I think so,cause there are so many long and confused new words.......i push myself to read it````  

第三遍看，前两次匆匆扫过，这次竟津津有味。读红字，如果仅关注情节，太单薄了，但加上17世纪新英格兰社会背景，层层的心理分析，神秘的象征，就很有嚼头了。 这次读，pearl这个角色真是神烦，arthur亲她一下，她竟跑到河边洗印子，不把父母逼死，誓不罢休啊。pearl形象刻画也...
