Sir Alfred Jules Ayer (October 29, 1910 – June 27, 1989), better known as A. J. Ayer (or Freddie by his friends), was a British philosopher known for his promotion of logical positivism, particularly in his books Language, Truth and Logic (1936) and The Problem of Knowledge (1956).

Ayer was the Grote Professor of the Philosophy of Mind and Logic at the University College London from 1946 until 1959, when he became Wykeham Professor of Logic at Oxford University. He was knighted in 1970.

Language, Truth and Logic, a work of philosophy by Alfred Jules Ayer, published in 1936) defines, explains and argues for the verification principle of logical positivism, sometimes referred to as the "criterion of significance" or "criterion of meaning". 这本书没法不给五星吧。这是一个伟人的气魄，如同读卢梭给我的感动。说他刻薄和搞笑的人就如同在忏悔录下评论卢梭全都是自命不凡的抱怨。我的叙事还是天才叙事，我会思考这是否不对，但这才是伟人们之所以闪光的原因，是一个人能够拥有的最美最好的属性。哲学即使是不去做过往...

竟然没几个人评论？比较难读，还是有所收获，哪怕一知半解。只看逻辑实证主义的概念是没意义的。作者的推理和论证是比较吸引人的，虽然读的过程中老是感觉反应迟钝。
