A sharp rethinking of cultural studies, especially Asian post-colonial studies from multiple perspectives. HK is a special space different from other colonized areas. Also involves women intellecturals' status. Leads me to contemplate what I should to as a Chinese, especially a privileged Chinese women intellectuals.

Criticisms charged with forces and emotions. 理论运用非常纯熟，对Chinese(in the context of American academia)不乏洞见，批评也是真的批评（而不是很多人那种无关痛痒的批评）；只是越看越觉得这种批评本身的问题可能在于，哪怕这么有self-awareness的学者，是否可能也落入了某种perspective的局限之中？是否始终存在某些boundaries/limits，不为我们所知，只能当被别人批评时才醒悟？而cultural studies，因为实际且时效所以犀利，但是否也因此容易过时？(Btw，喜欢周蕾的行文风格，非常readers friendly）

One of the most engaging, intelligent critical cultural theory I've read. dealt with China, women, feminism and diaspora from sharp, critical perspectives. wonderful reading experience.
