William Somerset Maugham nWilliam Somerset Maugham (25 January 1874-16 December 1965) was a British playwright， novelist and short story writer. He was among the most popular writers of his era and reputedly the highest paid author during the 1930s. nAfter losing both his parents by the age of 10， Maugham was raised by a paternal uncle who was emotionally cold. Not wanting to become a lawyer like other men in his family， Maugham eventually trained and qualified as a doctor. The first run of his first novel， Liza of Lambeth (1897)， sold out so rapidly that Maugham gave up medicine to write full-time. n During the First World War， he served with the Red Cross and in the ambulance corps， before being recruited in 1916 into the British Secret Intelligence Service， for which he worked in Switzerland and Russia before the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917. During and after the war， he traveled in India and Southeast Asia; all of these experiences were reflected in later short stories and novels.

练阅读选的，断断续续在睡前读完了，结尾好像在做梦
评分英文原版读起来很畅快，文字没有绕来绕去。虽然一开始有点被主人公那句“i want to paint”感动，但是后面的剧情发展已经超出我的理解能力了。特别是他觉得女人只知道爱情，去他妈的。巴黎以后的部分没有兴趣看完。
评分一直都听说月亮与六便士，一直都没看，然后看起来的时候有点欲罢不能，果然精彩。只是，天才之所以为天才就是人人不可能都是疯子了。
评分原始的粗暴的简洁的力量和美，没有一丝后天人文的修正。假如野兽会画画，应该就是这样直白的表达。很多次我通过“作者”和他的对话感受到挫败，也感受到他莫名的吸引力。我厌恶他inhuman的部分，但是却从他inhuman的部分中感受到别人所不能具备的特色。
