藝術傢當然都是很自我的，甚至自私的，如果不這樣，他/她成不瞭一個偉大的藝術傢，他/她會被愛和解成凡人，或者被愛毀滅

原始的粗暴的簡潔的力量和美，沒有一絲後天人文的修正。假如野獸會畫畫，應該就是這樣直白的錶達。很多次我通過“作者”和他的對話感受到挫敗，也感受到他莫名的吸引力。我厭惡他inhuman的部分，但是卻從他inhuman的部分中感受到彆人所不能具備的特色。

其實沒有get到這本書的點，估計我隻看懂瞭故事情節，但是還不足以體會到文法？

“The mills of God grind slowly, but they grind exceeding small.” 還是更喜歡刀鋒本書有厭女癥且中段的情事太無聊瞭雖然毛姆對於愛情和欲望的關係寫得很有道理感謝薄荷閱讀=v=

William Somerset Maugham nWilliam Somerset Maugham (25 January 1874-16 December 1965) was a British playwright， novelist and short story writer. He was among the most popular writers of his era and reputedly the highest paid author during the 1930s. nAfter losing both his parents by the age of 10， Maugham was raised by a paternal uncle who was emotionally cold. Not wanting to become a lawyer like other men in his family， Maugham eventually trained and qualified as a doctor. The first run of his first novel， Liza of Lambeth (1897)， sold out so rapidly that Maugham gave up medicine to write full-time. n During the First World War， he served with the Red Cross and in the ambulance corps， before being recruited in 1916 into the British Secret Intelligence Service， for which he worked in Switzerland and Russia before the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917. During and after the war， he traveled in India and Southeast Asia; all of these experiences were reflected in later short stories and novels.
