在關於motherhood的描述中穿插瞭城市貧睏、歧視、種族。母親的愧疚與逃避，既想不錯過每一刻把孩子緊緊抱住，又想成為自己成為獨立個體。左派麵對生活實踐的無力，試圖用想象中溫情的雇傭關係遮掩剝削的實質。

英版叫lullaby，美版叫perfect nanny。作為一本懸疑小說，它的寫作手法太隱晦太微妙瞭，很多不寒而栗的點需要讀者自己體會，沒有直白的血肉模糊也沒有endless plot twists。作者是法籍摩洛哥女孩，所以supposedly書裏隱含很多從保姆視角反映法國移民，階級，種族和整個社會貧富差距的片段。作為一個中國人我讀著沒啥太大感覺。
