很实在的一本书，把作者的一些最“突出”的work放到了一起，有很大的一部分讲的是性与大英帝国的关系，penis envy什么的，以前从没在历史paper里接触过这样的想法，很有意思。中间的一段说宗教的我不清楚算不算夸大了一些宗教的作用，但是我实在无法criticize作者，我知道的太少了。
