语言的部分太弱，可惜

用governmentality从上而下分析教育制度，其实说不上哪里不靠谱，很多规则可能因为熟悉而淡化。但用教育/名校学位和成功/happiness联系起来并非东亚独有。再则，这样看下去学生们都是受体，完全受制度控制的（不然从做个人主义的也没法写东西了）。

能让一外国人写出这么真实的中国教育也不容易。

邹平的中学生对作者说：“学霸好啊，不容易被黑社会霸凌。”作者叹一口气，“哎，怎样才能让你们相信美国高中有nerds和geeks的存在呢。”#又很喜欢，怎么办

作者开宗名义，为何在读书并不一定在经济上更有利的时代，中国人的教育意愿仍然如此强烈。作者提出在总体性社会事实中对其进行考察（没错就是莫斯的概念！），通过文化、governing（不只是政府自上而下的管理，参考福柯的权力之网）和emplacement（既扎根邹平，又放眼全国东亚全世界）进行考察。提出中国人的教育意愿是由快速工业化，人口结构转型，文化男子气概，国家建设和典型表彰这几方面互相纠缠互为因果的。个人感觉第四章有身体化部分的描写是亮点。缺憾是感觉desire这个词可以好好做下理论分析的但作者没有，素质教育部分不如某个我忘记名字的人写得好。
