沃爾夫岡•希弗爾布施（Wolfgang Schivelbusch, 1941—）
德國曆史學傢、文化研究學者，1972年於柏林自由大學獲博士學位，研究領域為文學、社會學和哲學，現居紐約、柏林。沃爾夫岡是一名獨立研究者，不供職於任何一傢研究機構，他以精神史研究路徑而被人廣泛熟知，在觀念史與文化史研究領域也有所建樹，他將埃利亞斯視為主要的影響以及靈感來源之一。2003年於柏林獲海因裏希•曼藝術學院奬，2013年於漢堡獲萊辛城市奬。

評分刚开始还以为是类似于论文的那种很枯燥无味的类型，看完就还挺惊喜的，当然它也让我多次想起了自己未完成的毕业论文，跳了几段，但总体而言感受还是可以的。 在书后的时间表里可以大致看出这本书都讲了些什么。刚开始没看到的时候发现书里面关于建筑和材料疲劳的讲述觉得还蛮好...

很紮實的技術史社會史研究，除瞭最後的技術+文化雙重決定論有點不能令人信服。
评分鐵路旅行的發展史還是挺有趣的 火車車廂的發明之類的與預想差距還挺大。感謝這本書帶給我們一次超酷的兩小時tutor+presentation。由鐵路旅行引發的遐想也很美。
