He had no lawyer, no advocate on the outside. In desperation, he writes a letter to Guardian Ministries, a small nonprofit run by Cullen Post, a lawyer who is also an Episcopal minister.
Guardian accepts only a few innocence cases at a time. Cullen Post travels the country fighting wrongful convictions and taking on clients forgotten by the system. With Quincy Miller, though, he gets far more than he bargained for. Powerful, ruthless people murdered Keith Russo, and they do not want Quincy Miller exonerated.
They killed one lawyer twenty-two years ago, and they will kill another without a second thought.

挺嚴肅的，沒有感覺有多懸疑，也就那樣吧。但是對於學法律的我來說，還行，也算瞭解一些詞匯瞭
评分an ordinary crime and law story, won't make you savor afterwards
评分讀瞭一半讀不下去瞭，文筆很一般，情節不誘人，實在找不到繼續讀下去的理由瞭……棄遼
评分感覺Grisham這幾年的小說質量有所迴升，至少能吸引人讀下去。有些小說有些虎頭蛇尾，這部還算比較完整。Grisham也是盡量挖掘各種不同的律師，但是還是有些技窮瞭。。一年一部，不容易啊
评分藉偵探題材深刻反映美國種族和司法製度的深刻問題，主題十分深刻。故事上後半部分鋪開各種綫索之後卻最終沒有找到真凶，這個安排感覺有些虎頭蛇尾，但是後記中提到故事的現實版就是如此，所以也可以算作作者現實主義的安排。期望能早日翻拍成電影。
